Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso said on Saturday he believes Trent Alexander-Arnold is only just starting to show what he can do following his summer move from Liverpool.
The England international missed several weeks of the season injured, but played both of Real Madrid’s last two games.
Alexander-Arnold, 27, alternated with veteran Dani Carvajal at the start of the season before suffering his hamstring injury.
«I think we will see a better Trent,» Alonso told a press conference on Sunday before Real Madrid’s La Liga match with Girona.
“It is without a doubt positive that after the injury he was able to play 90 minutes against Elche, and 90 minutes against Olympiacos.

«We need him. It’s his first year and it’s normal for him to adapt (period).»
The defender left his boyhood club Liverpool after making more than 300 appearances for the Premier League giants.
Alexander-Arnold struggled at times in the 2-2 draw against Elche but found a higher gear as Madrid defeated Olympiacos 4-3 in Athens.
«He’s starting to feel like himself,» Alonso continued.
«He is also demanding, he plays at a top level. We have to be there for him, in this change that is so big for him, but it is good news.»
Alonso also praised another England international, Jude Bellingham, after his recent good form.
«I have very good communication with Jude, a very good relationship,» Alonso said.
“He is a world-class top star, but he has the desire to improve, to learn, to be more efficient with the great potential he has.
“I love these players with this curiosity and initiative to ask what we can do better.”
Madrid have drawn their last two league matches and will look to rebuild momentum against Girona.
Alonso confirmed that Franco Mastantuono, Antonio Rudiger and Eder Militao are back from injury and will be part of the squad, while Raul Asencio was doubtful.
