The cookie lady – the walk

Day 85-10 Miles today from Berkshire Lakeside Lodge to The Cookie Lady Hanker, 1,800 feet high, 1,100 feet down, 1,567 on the mile marker (mm)

This is difficult

Yesterday was a difficult day. We find ourselves with persuasion that is from Maine. She was also having a difficult day.

The path is analogous to life. At first everything was exciting and new. The physical phase.

So it’s hard work. The mental phase. The last third is supposed to be the spiritual phase.

Starting with fresh legs and jumping 200 miles from the mental phase may have put us in a strange physical, mental and spiritual dilemma. Or not.

Persuassion said he was having difficulty staying on his way. He was close to home and missed his people.

We are far from home and far from the people we have walked with. Physically tired. Although the landscape is beautiful, the novelty and the emotion of being here decrease greatly from the first months.

It is a wall, I am sure that each hiker has hit. The easiest thing to do now is to pull the RIP cable and leave it. I just can’t do that.

Gratitude

Berkshire Lakesid Lodge was a great renewal. A comfortable bed, running water, etc. The luxuries of everyday life that we normally take for granted.

I am grateful to God for the depravation that the path has forced me. It has given me great appreciation and gratitude for what we are blessed in our daily lives that we take for granted.

We left the shelter around 11:00. We are still just 10 miles per day, this is how I would like to keep it for at least next week or so.

Planning ahead

We did something that we have not done at all that I was planning in advance. We have an established schedule during the next few days. Every day approximately 10 miles. We hope you can remain at the top of Graylock Mountain in The Lodge in the bunk in a few days.

Knockerz will get ahead of the shelter for a zero that day. I will walk the 3,000 feet in 8 miles that day. After that, we will have approximately 10 miles on the edge of Vermont, but we have several large mountains to the summit. It is too early for Knockerz to push so strong with fresh legs and hips.

Run a storm

Today’s path has been quite without incident so far. Around four miles there have been some climbs, but the path has not been too difficult.

Finally we arrive at Beckett Pond and the path wrapped around the pond. You could see the pond in the distance.

I could hear a rumble of a storm that brought back my fears of being trapped in a ray storm again. But I had sworn that after twice to have weakening injuries that set me aside after running a storm, I wouldn’t do that again. We will see.

Don’t bother me

I have my first black fly bite. Ab ****’s son bit me through my socks. I know we are getting into the Blackfly territory, so I guess should get used to it.

It has been a warm day and Knockerz has had a difficult time with its hip pain. This is just his fourth day and he is having to start almost again with his weak hip.

It is also difficult because the novelty and the emotion of being on the road is no longer present. I hope you will recover your path of path.

The cookie lady – the walk

Dizzy spell

The path continued through the forest through some swampy areas. After passing a dirt road called County Road, the path made a rise of 200 feet directly to the top of the upper bald part.

I have felt dizzy all day and a little nausea. The climb was very difficult with my head by turning. It was not due to dehydration or lack of food.

The lady of cookies

We continue walking and decided to go to the women of the cookies at night. She has a bus with two beds where you can sleep or a plane hanger with six beds. Then we settled on the hanger.

We enjoy the cookies and hibiscus tea. Such a friendly person for allowing us to stay here.
