The 2026-26 season of I-League, India’s second division football league, will begin on February 21.
The season will be played in two phases (league phase and championship/relegation round), as seen in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 campaigns.
In the league stage, all participating clubs play a round-robin format with one leg before the top six teams progress to the championship round, while the bottom six go to the relegation round.
The clubs have also proposed to rename the I-League as the ‘Indian Football League’, which will have to be approved by the All India Football Federation (AIFF).
