I almost kept my normal hiking routine today: get up early, walk a few hours, take the second breakfast, walk a few more hours, stop for lunch, walk a few more hours and then prepare in the camp, devour a big dinner and hang out in the store before falling asleep in a time between 9: 00-10: 00 pm. And in general, the path was similar to how it has been, but as there were always some unique things too.

I think this narrow hall is called Roger ramp

Around 10:00 am, I met two hikers walking in the opposite direction. They are the Mako names («like the shark,» he told me, «because I can’t stop moving») and Wendy. Mako showed me a small green rolled card with writing. He said something like «Trail magic options» and articles listed such as Gatorade, cookies, french fries, etc., everything was all in their packages with them. They told me to choose what I wanted.

Already at this time I was hot, so I chose the Gatorade. They told me it was a popular option. There were only two left and they had already seen 10 through hikers this morning. It was cold and spectacular … a safe impulse. Thanks to all those who provide hikers such gifts! It really means a lot.

Like yesterday, I was pleased to have some pleasant miles about half of the day! Some small roads walk even there.

I took this photo because I am quite sure that this plant is a white sweet clover, which is invasive for southwest Alaska (I had a seasonal work in a regional «team of attack» of invasive species. It sounds intense, right?). I’m not sure if it’s invasive here haha.

The powerful Housatonic continues to appear.

I do not know if it is the presence of more pine needles cushioning the path, a more gradual rating, less rocks and more land, or a combo or these things, but there is something in Connecticut that is simply good.

The area around Great Falls was quite special …

The perspective of the great fall of César by the head of the lion (day 172)He had thought about finding an early lunch place where a fast dip could be had, but that is not how things shook. Instead, I found the good places and headed up and away from the river. The new scheme meant raising Mount Prospect and celebrating at the summit with a lunch.

Another of my strange selections from the Kent groove store was a chocolate peanut butter. Imagine something like nuttela. I really do not know what Nutella is like, I suppose, since it has hazelnut, which I am also allergic, but this is straight peanuts and cocoa. It was fine. Super rich and made me drink a lot of water with her. So healthy, however, well haha.

Then I was down again …

I left in the morning with the aim of trying a little. I wanted to see how I would drive a great day, the type of mileage I felt I was doing before falling in New York. And I am happy to inform that it went quite well! What was not part of my thought with the above, but what happened naturally today, was that it enraged me. This has been absent from my walk for a long time. Let me explain.

«Ira hiking» according to Stevie

On my 2019 PCT walk, a cohort of hikers and I had entered the snowfall and quickly melting to Sierra Nevada. We also realized that it was more outlined than preferred, so it was rescued through the somewhat dark taboo pass.

In the long and arduous walk to the floors of the Eastern Sierra, we find a last furious river. Where the path crossed the other side, it was quite intimidating, especially because a treacherous cascade was just below. Frustrated, we made the call to walk again a few miles where we had changed the river for the last time. Then we stay from the other side and climb through a field of talus slope until we connect with the path below.

I was angry and put my headphones to make the climb. My friends had never seen me walk so fast and joke about it later, we coined the term «walk of rage.» Over the years, as my hiking «career» has continued, the hiking of anger has evolved in my mind. Nowadays, I do not associate it with being frustrated or angry (although sometimes it happens, of course), but I feel that it is related to a feeling of self -employment. I even have a spotify playlist specifically for those moments. Lots of Rage against the machine There haha.

Heather «Anish» Anderson in Mute, rocks, llamas: let go to the path of the Apalaches He writes: «‘This path is relentless,’ I said and pushed with my posts’, but, again, I too.» I am giving that … the attitude to which I can coincide with the intensity and demands of this path. As I said before, he has lacked, and today I felt he came back.

Towards the end of the day I began to enter higher elevations than in a long time. It is not yet very high there, but I think it is a sign of what will come to the north. The last climb of the day even had a fierce name, Lion’s head.

Difficult to see with the shadows, but a good solo rock needle. A monolith, could one call it?

As two days ago, I tried to overcome a storm, but this time it did not work.

Upon arriving at the camp sign, I followed the lateral path and was longer than expected. The rain had begun and could listen to thunder. Finally I found a place ensuring that there was adequate drainage this time, but I had frustrated me in the process. However, in a matter of seconds, something changed and began to laugh at it, laughing at myself for the nonsense of the situation, I suppose 🤷.

A great thing about my store is that it has two parts, the fly and the inner mesh. You can leave them fastened for easy settings, but at that time I separated them in my backpack. Even so, I simply configured the fly that acted as a kind of canvas to hide underneath. And with my backpack and me and everything that I carry with me below, I could configure everything. Awesome!

The storm passed after two hours or so and then became well again. Connecticut also arrived with another box of bears on the store site. Another solid day!
