This morning I got up pleasant and early. My plan is to go as far as I can today, tomorrow a good day short at South Lake Tahoe. The average of the last days will work as the same. So I imagine I could enter Tahoe as soon as possible to enjoy and take advantage of the city.
I moved to the right around 5:30 am and spent the morning passing next to a good amount of tents. I put my audiobook immediately because it was very good. I ended up listening to it in the course of the morning until I finally finished it. The story was really interesting and I think bikepacking has many parallels with hiking. One of the most interesting components in history is the fact that author Jedidiah really had absolutely no experience pacing by bicycle or outdoors. He has just heard another person’s story about his adventure and thought it would be really great.
The incredible dawn this morning.
The path this morning was pleasant and easy with just some shorter climbs. In the early hours of the day I met a hiker I had met in the Desert section. He recognized me immediately and was sitting for a break. But it appeared quite fast to be able to walk with me and talk to me for a while. We end up climbing the entire next climb together. Which was perhaps 1000 feet or so. But it seemed that it was ridiculously fast.

The path wrapped around this lake and rode along a cliff for some time.
Then, when we reached the top and he received some service. And surprisingly I didn’t. I have a carrier who uses T-Mobile, which is apparently the least effective cell service plan in the mountains. So I continued and put my audiobook again. And for a while after that, the path simply curved down and around the change and was pleasant and easy.
In the next hour I heard a loud noise in the forest. And my head turned just in time to see a huge bear running towards the forest. Clearly saw me well before I saw it. This is a perfect example of why I am not afraid of bears in the desert. They have much more fear than you. The rare exceptions to this rule generally revolves around to get too close to your puppies.

I really enjoyed this rock section of the path.
Around 11 AM I spent a crossroads just before a road. I noticed that a sign hung on a tree that indicates that there was a great magic of trails established to approximately a quarter of the path. At first I started walking along the side path. There must be no great parking on the road, so people had to establish a stimulus trace. But when I started walking along the path, I kept going down and down. After a very short distance, I turned around and returned to the PCT. I simply knew that this was going to eat until the day and I really couldn’t pay it.

The magic of the path that I passed, that crushed my soul.
Although I had been fantasizing with the magic of the path and the idea was all I wanted and more, I had to maintain my straight priorities. I would add half a mile at least just to go there and return to the path. And I knew I would probably end up sitting there for a while eating. And many times it can be a bit difficult to enter and get out of the magic of the road quickly. Just because there are always so many pleasant people and you end up chatting with people. And at this time, I really felt the weight of the triple crown of the calendar year for the first time.

Today the path was surprisingly flat for many long sections of mileage.
I don’t think there is a movement more than rejecting the magic of the path because I was going to take time for your day. It is certainly something I would never do on an ordinary walk. But today he felt the responsible decision. I have many more miles for the day. And I really want to enter the South Lake Tahoe as soon as I can tomorrow. Those days a little shorter are really one of the great things that keep me underway. They help to stay motivated to make great miles, and they also provide me with a little mental rest and relaxation intermittently.
While I was moving away from the magic of the path, I expected that they were perhaps installed on the way forward. But, of course, they were not, as the sign had indicated. And during the next mile, I felt quite sad. I had turned my back on something I wanted more than anything. And I almost felt that I had to do it due to my greatest goal. That is very reasonable and is in line with my mission. But he didn’t make him get less.

Towards the end of the day I had a final climb. Then I would descend to the lake to spend the night.
Not long after that, I stopped briefly to get some snacks to quench. And while they stopped me right next to the path, a couple of hikers walked next to me and did not even see me. I thought that was quite fun. Then I ended up reaching them shortly after and passing through them. After going through those guys, I ended up reaching some other hikers as well. There is a trend that has been very recently happening when I start catching up with people. That is just something that I have noticed through the bubble on the PCT. Sometimes, another hiker will see or feel that you approach and suddenly resort to its rhythm. I like to walk in approximately 3–3.5 mph and that is the type of consistent rhythm that could do without stopping all day. Some days I will literally walk for 30 miles or more and I will never sit once. I will only stop to urinate or drink some water.
Sometimes, hikers will see me up behind them and accelerate their natural rhythm so as not to pass them. They will come flying forward by 4 miles per hour at a pace that they cannot maintain. I always play a small game in my head wondering how long it will take me catching them. Sometimes it only has 5 or 10 minutes. Other times it can take an hour or so, depending on its resistance. But today I ended up catching up with people in front of me. And I never saw them again.
The day passed quite fast and the views were beautiful. He had a partner of hills to climb and go up again. Up, the views were open and exposed. Then, towards the end of the day, I had to upload a fairly long climb. I remembered this of 2022 and I knew it would be quite difficult towards the top.

A lake in the distance.
Time had passed so fast that it seemed that it could go at least 36 miles for the day. And I would probably be arriving at my camp in reality quite early. That should be good! Then I slept a great night and get up tomorrow and tomorrow to go to South Lake Tahoe.
This last climb of the day was definitely a little more exhausting than I thought it was going to be. He just kept going and going far beyond what he expected. But I obtained beautiful views of a lake in the distance. And I knew that I would eventually go to that lake to establish the camp to spend the night. The funny thing is that I actually camped in this same exact place in 2022. Except that I did not walk to the lake and, instead, I camped closer to the path. This time, although I really need water, so I will go to the store site next to the lake.

Eventually I would drop just by passing the lake.
Finally, I reached the top of the climb and then it was only half a mile more or less towards the store area. There are some dirt roads at the intersection of the path and a little parking area. Although it does not seem the type of place that a ton of traffic would obtain. When I arrived at the place of the camp, there were some established tents that reassured me. I don’t love camping near the roads alone. Especially after my experience on the trail of the Apalaches while heading to the Canadian border. If you do not remember, or did not read that story, I loaded in a used area right next to the road. And in the middle of the night, a vehicle led and people approached my store. However, they did nothing and decided to be silent and simply shine my light back. I didn’t want to give the fact that she was a woman in the forest alone.

Heading to my camp to spend the night.
But now I would not have to be alone in this parking lot to spend the night. I settled my store and placed everything. Then he grabbed some water from the beautiful lake and could rinse my hands a little. The other hikers that I joined for the night were sitting aside by a fire. There is something that always makes me a little envious. To think that they arrived a few hours before and had so much time on the day they could set, sit and have dinner together. While I was late, I put myself directly to my store, ate and went to bed.
Tomorrow morning I will have around 6 miles to get to the past Carson. That actually has an information center that opens at 8 am, just as I will arrive. And apparently the people who work at the Information Center do magic of trails for hikers every day. So you should be able to get a snack or a soda. Then, passing there, I will have about 14 miles to get to the road and make a trip on South Lake Tahoe. Therefore, it should only be one day of 21 miles and I hope to be in the ridiculously early. I am excited for a small noon and a little rest.
