Thomas Mueller says that winning titles motivates him while waiting for Vancouver WhiteCaps debut


Germany and Bayern Munich Great Thomas Mueller said on Thursday that he remains focused on winning titles while preparing for Major League Soccer Life with the Vancouver WhiteCaps.

The Whitecaps officially revealed his new signing a week after he closed a deal until the end of the 2025 ml season, with an option for 2026.

Mueller, whose term of office at Bayern Munich 13 Bundesliga titles and two Champions League triumphs included, said that his move to North America did not mean that his appetite for trophies has decreased.

«I was always a competitive man throughout my life, and my love is to play, play football,» said the 35-year-old.

«And my body feels too good to retire, even in (this) phase of my career. I know that a player with my career to Vancouver creates a little hype. And we want to stay on the Hype train for as long as possible,» Mueller added, who helped Germany won the World Cup in 2014.

The Whitecaps are in second place in the Western Conference, four points behind San Diego and one for Minnesota.

Vancouver sports director Axel Schuster called Mueller’s arrival «the biggest day since I became at the club».

«It’s a great time and a good time to be a supporter of Vancouver Whitecaps,» he added.

Mueller indicated that he hoped to take the field with his new team on Sunday when the Whitecaps Houston Dynamo FC Host, although coach Jesper Sorensen did not confirm the availability of the new arrival.

Nevertheless, Mueller made it clear that he is laser -oriented on his future of Whitecaps.

«It’s not about winning titles in the past. Winning in the future. That is what motivates me,» he said.
