Through 30 years, working for Aldha-West, Six Moon Designs, & Farout, and Ridgering with a dog with Whitney «Allgood» the Ruffa (BPR #312)

In today’s episode of Backpacker Radio, presented by The Trek, Whitney the Ruffa joined us, better known in the world of backpack as «Allgood.» AllGood is the former president of Aldha-West, the current director of income at Farout, and a certified backpack OG, his first trip dates back to the early 90s (some of you were not even alive then … which is strange).

Since that first walk, AllGood has accumulated an impressive list of paths, including JMT, Wonderland Trail, Chinook Trail, Sierra High Route, PCT, CDT and others. In this episode, we immerse ourselves in stories of his innumerable miles along the way, his passion for backpacking food: he is a good faith chef from the field, as he shows that he freezes drying his own meals, and he spills the beans of some of his favorite recipes with trails.

We also talked about how a casual encounter in the AT led him to adopt his dog, Erwin, and how Erwin has deepened his love for dogs in general.

Beyond the path, we obtain AllGood’s version on how the backpack has evolved since the 1990s, we listened to a sincere update on the health of the former guest and the beloved icon of the Renee «She-Ra» Patrick path, and some of the recent potholes on the road for Farout.

We wrap the program with how Damascus has recovered following Hurricane Helene, if animals could speak, what species would be the most annoying, and the triple crown of the states that we would write in a civil war.
