Leaving in advance
Or is that concern? I wonder if I slept last night because my brain was thinking about everything. I told my friend, Olwen, that I planted green beans in the garden to be ready to choose when I returned. Why is that? Wait for a long successful walk? Good preparation? Or simply love for fresh green beans, especially after eating food for paths for six weeks? I am very excited, but despite Bob Gnarly’s warning, I’m still scared. Am I really crazy to try this? I will do that?
But … I’m excited!
My friend of CT, Kim, was in the country of Country and saw a landscape and wild flowers. Oooooh, I can’t wait for the wild flowers CDT! That is one of the reasons why I walk so slowly (besides being slow!) My friend, Cindy, says that I am the most slow hiker
Once … because I stop to look at all the flowers, fresh rocks and everything. But she knows, just as all my hiking friends, that I love nature! It energizes me, calm me, heals my soul. All those who walk or spend any time outdoors understand. That is a reason why our non -profit organization, river routes, work to move the children away from the screens and harvest the benefits of being outside. Have
Do that for ourselves too! Reduce your screen time and increase your time outdoors! I hope this blog is full of natural wonders while I am out there!
Path community
This is the first time in a time that I will not be walking alone! My daughter joins me a little. My sister joins me. For a little. And we can meet some of my friends from CT (and High School, Naomi?). All inspire me a lot and it is great to stay connected. While it seems simple to go to make a walk in the mountains, you really need such a community to make it possible. We often say «the path provides», but I think it is the community along the way and supporting the path what it provides.
Who includes that?
We are a human community but we need our natural areas. We love our natural areas because they provide us with what we really need: the peace of wild spaces.
The Trail Angels, Trail Volunteers and the Continental Coalition Divide Trail, but also the cities and good people on the road they support to the stinky hikers. Our friends and family who support us in every step of the road. (Here we look at you, Caroline and Carleen!). My family supports me in every way and I couldn’t do this without them! Ten years ago, on July 1 I received the call that had cancer. I was sure I was a maximum of five years. Today I’m going to walk 600 miles. I am so happy to be here right now!
Let’s go to CDT!
