Trail update #10 from TMB.
The big day.
We were going to do 15 miles at the Tour du Mont Blanc to finish it. We leave the Chamonix Les Grands Montets hotel by bus back to Tre-La-Tramp and returned to the path. It was a good climb back to the path and outside the trees. Today it was going to be difficult. I was nervous on the stairs we would face.
On the way to the staircase section, we saw some people climb rocks, which was really great to see.
We arrived at the staircase section in what was felt at the same time as all the others who walked on this beautiful day.
Once we passed the stairs, that we were not so bad, we were on the way to Brevent. I could see how the stairs could be dangerous in different climatic circumstances.
I crossed my own through the curves and uphill towards the Brevent refuge, where we would get, drink and fill the water before the last section without water from the path.
The terrain became a bit complicated with the snow and the roca revolts when we approached the cable car. But finally we could see mountain goats.
The cable car was full of people, and we were lucky to have been able to get ice cream and a soda. It was beautiful to see where we had walked.
Once we got our photo in front of Mont Blanc’s sign in front of the mountain, we returned to the path and continued with an exhausting 6 -mile walk to the city. Not many people take this way, so we didn’t know what to expect. It was a long road down, and the first 3 miles rushed, and, as most hikers know, the last miles of the day can feel the longest and the child did it! Those last 3 miles felt as if they were forever.
We returned to Les Houches, and could have run to the starting point. I almost cried. I was so happy to have completed the walk.
