Day 96-17 Miles today from Thistle Hill Sherter to Velvet Rocks Shelter, 3100 feet above, 3800 feet from below, 1758 in Mile Marker
Approach
Thistle Hill’s shelter could not have come enough. Yesterday I was doing very well until I went to the farm and got a lot of food. After that I felt quite lethargic.
Gator and Muddy appeared after making more than 20 miles. They will make more than 20 miles today. I would really want to be able to follow them, since I really enjoyed your company. They said that they travel at approximately 3 miles per hour and that there is no way to maintain that type of rhythm.
Gator told me that Franconia is only 66.5 miles away! That moved me a lot. There has been much talk about the difficult New Hampshire and Southern Maine are a bit concerned about that. But I am also excited.

Come
It took time to sleep last night, I think that due to the emotion of being around the corner of what is supposed to be an extremely challenging hiking.
There were two hikers to the south with which I spoke last night that explained southern Maine. They said you climb 4,000 feet to a beautiful view and then turn and lower 4,000 feet just to repeat it again. They said that Maine’s upper part was quite flat and crossed. They said that the whites were challenging, but that it was a 4,000 feet up to the whites and then travel through the crest.

Tubular
I started at 6:30 in the morning. It was fresh with temperatures in the 40 highs. Until now, this morning I travel at a rate of 2.5 mph.

The forest would open in the small fields that were completely covered with weeds. The morning dew in the brush soaked my wet feet and legs.

I started seeing this very strange pipeline in the trees. It seemed that there were these small small tubes around the trees that were later connected to these longer tubes. It was to collect arce syrup! Good Arce Vermont Vermont syrup.

Beautiful crossroads
The path continued with a mainly descending trend until we arrived at the White River and the small crossroads of West Hartford. The city of West Hartford was very small but had several beautiful historical buildings.

There was a little road walking. The path returned to the forest and made a little climbing. It was quite without incident. I stopped in a stream and bathed for the first time since I left Rutland.

Beers
I continued walking when I noticed a raw sign in a rock. It took me a second to realize that I said the bees nest in front. After being nailed by the bees 2 days ago, I quickly took my rhythm.

I was very fast walking when two hikers bounced Dahiker and Pancho stopped me and pointed out the floor in front. I looked down and there was a lot of Magic by Beers Trail. I had to stop. Unfortunately, the three sit there for a while and three PBR later, my mission has changed. Now I am on a walk along the road and I stumbled with Elm Street Norwich VT. I can’t believe how fast I walked through Vermont.

Goodbye vt
The path was a walk through the city of Norwich. It is a small historical city. Then, the Road Walk path went down a busy road under an interstate.

It was then that I could see the Connecticut river with the big balls on the bridge. I crossed the Connecticut river and I couldn’t believe I went to Vermont and headed to Massachusetts.

A new world
The road walk went up and entered the city of Hanover or Dartmouth College. It was like being in the world completely different.
It was similar to leaving the tarks to go to Gatlinburg but in a totally different way. A different type of people than people who were in Gatlinburg. It is still the sensory overload of a small city.
Gifts
I had to go through Lous and get my free cake that I opted for an oat ravish. I sat on a bank and enjoyed each part. All the people who sleep had no idea how far we had arrived to reach this point.

Then I went to Ramuttos Pizza and obtained my free pizza slice. I also obtained two more pizza slices.
A group left and asked them if they were going to throw their pizza and gladly gave me the pizza. I couldn’t eat more pizza, so I left her with Ben who I’ve been walking for a while.
I left Ramutos and headed down one more street until I entered the forest again. It would only be a mile and a half for the shelter.
