Tramily Matters – The Trek

Shell game

A family of paths is interesting because it is constantly changing.

In my last publication, I worried about my group because they were too fast. Now I’m ahead of them.
Sometimes he feels like a shell game.

Bland to Pearisburg

Fresco, on vacation, swamps, and I left Bland and headed to Pearisburg.

The rain and storms continued while we advanced, but we dodged the worst. After a storm, the rododendro flowers fell and made the path almost fantastic.

We met a man named Mash from Germany on a rainy day who would later become a new member of our Tramilia.

White wolf

On the way to the beginning of the path to get to Pearisburg, we were discussing the plan to engage the city. In the parking lot, we saw a hiker out of a truck and grab his backpack to start walking.
I recognized him as Whitewolf when I stayed in Bear Standing.

We started talking to him and he offered to take us to the city when we said we were looking for a hitch. I rode on the front and the other three rode on the back.

Time and place

Approximately 5 minutes in Whitewolf they stop at an entrance path and explain that he went along the wrong way. He proceeds to tell me how once he walked for 2 hours on the Smokies before realizing that he was not even on the path of the Apalaches and had to return. However, he said he doesn’t care, since he believes that the path guides him where he needs to be when he needs to be there. A couple of minutes later, he tells me that he realized that he was not even at the beginning of the right path when we met him.

This interaction baffles me a bit. Whitewolf said the path puts it where he needs to be when he needs to be there. It was at the beginning of the wrong path, but before starting walking, we walked needing a walk. He takes a walk, during which he realizes that he had gone to the wrong place. His mistake helped us and our interruption helped him. The path provided.

Shuffling the plot

Things changed a little after Pearisburg.
We are with Chewy, Ranger and Dandelion, all of whom had to remove a trace for several reasons. That night, we installed the camp and appeared Mash, going down the road, and decided to stay with us.

The next day, we all camped together and were visited by a poor will of whip for the first time. None of us slept well. This bird relentlessly sang his song from the moment we closed our eyes until we realized sleeping and started walking.

We were visited by these birds all the birds for about a week. We have not heard one in a time, and now we miss them.

Dividing the party

We had a decision to make, since our maps gave the 12 -mile day option or one day of 18 miles. The most difficult part of the day was the first 12 miles, the other 6 seemed easy compared.

Holiday and Swamply opted for a short day and would do it a longer day after. I prefer a long day followed by a short day if it should be done.

So, we end up dividing. Fresh and advanced. We meet with other plankton, Folly, Bushwack, Jimbo and Sticky walkers. Later we were surprised when a solitary ranger appeared. Dandelion and Chewy had to get out of the way due to new / worse injuries.

Virginia Triple Crown

Dragon dragon

Fresco, Ranger, Bushwack, and I walked and experienced the first of our triple crown of Virginian, Dragon’s Toth.

The day was long and the climbs were steep, but we arrived at the tooth at the end of the afternoon. The other three rose to the top of the tooth. I firmly was courageous on the ground.

We went on the other side that was much more steep and required a careful placement of the foot, patience and climbing to lower safely.

He was optimistic that we were on the steep and treacherous side. After all, if we fell, we would still be closer to our goal. If we were going up and fell, we would be further from the target.

The moment I thought a rock slid below my foot while I was on a shelf. I fell and stood in a knee position with my knee at the outer edge of the shelf in which it was. My colleagues saw This and jaded in concern; I assured them that it was fine.
I patted the problematic stone of the shelf and continued down. The climb seemed more heartbreaking from that angle, as if the shelf was approximately 6 inches closer, it would have fallen at least 20 feet down. Keep my joke on falling to me until we lower the rest of the way.

We finished the trip and left the road to Catwba Grocery, where each one ordered a pizza. Then we walk to another parking lot of the path where we organize the camp to spend the night.

McAfee knife

The next day, we climb the second of the Triple Crown, McAFEE KNOB. We spend most of the afternoon here enjoying the view, posing for photos and enjoying the reception of the cell phone. We show different photos that we take on the trip.

At night we stayed in a nearby shelter where the bears were recently seen. A ranger was hanging out in case one appeared. We were excited to see a bear, but we were disappointed not to see one.

Tinker cliffs

We complete the triple crown of Virginia uploading to Tinker Cliffs.

From here we could see the Mcafee knob in the distance. We enjoy the views and move to Daleville and Troutville for dinner.

We zero here and we fashed the chewable, the ranger, the tooth of León, the puree, which had been missing for days, and I in a hotel room. This was a bit too much for our introverted group.

Go ahead to Lexington

We left Daleville and walk. The elevation changes, moisture and heat made it challenging. Heat exhaustion affected our group, and Chewy got out of the way to recover. The challenging terrain caused us pain and mashed we had to stop to recover.

We stopped in Glasgow along the way and stayed in a shelter in the city.

Fresco, Ranger, and we fight in the section, but I succeeded. The others had to take a break due to pain, heat exhaustion or other issues. We renounce our mileage so that we rest more during the day and give our bodies the opportunity to rest.

We met everyone in Lexington and took another zero.

Chewy and Mash were left behind to deal with persistent injuries. The rest of us move forward and meet again in Waynesboro. We will all plan to go together for the Shenondoah National Park.

My opinion about Virginia so far

South of Virginia that I loved. It was relatively easy and fun walking.

The triple crown was also fun for walking and excellent views.

From Daleville to Waynesboro it was difficult for me. I heard that Virginia was flat, which means: F*CKING Lin TONorth Dakota Tall. This section demonstrated the true description.

I was hot and humid or rained. We were soaked every day. I had bad enough. I had blood in my shorts. My feet were flooded and looked like an body at the end if the day, and they were still wet in the morning.

Hyoh

Fresh and have kept our purist approach. We have not lazy, pilot, yellowish or blocked. The rest of our group has been more flexible due to injuries, time limitations, funds, diseases, etc. It is important to remember its own walk, since a tramilia can find many unexpected circumstances.
