England coach Thomas Tuchel says Jude Bellingham must accept his decisions after the midfielder expressed frustration at being substituted at the end of a 2-0 win over Albania in European World Cup qualifying on Sunday.
Bellingham was shown a yellow card in the 80th minute of the match and was taken off the field four minutes later after making his first England start since June. The 22-year-old Real Madrid star threw his arms up in frustration moments after the second goal, after spotting Morgan Rogers waiting on the sidelines to replace him.
“That is the decision, and he has to accept the decision,” Tuchel said. “His friend is waiting on the sidelines, so you have to accept it, respect it and move on.”
«I’ll have to reconsider,» said Tuchel, who had previously clashed with Bellingham. «I could tell he wasn’t happy. I don’t want to make it bigger than it is right now.»
Tuchel praised his players involved in the campaign which saw England win all eight games without conceding any goals.
“Congratulations to them, it was a pleasure to fight with them and push them from the sidelines,” he said.
