UEFA on Wednesday banned Red Star Belgrade fans from attending the team’s next away match in the Europa League due to racist and insulting incidents.
Fans of the Serbian champions chanted slogans about the Roma, Europe’s largest ethnic minority, and also targeted home team Braga as Red Star were defeated 2-0 in Portugal last week.
UEFA said its disciplinary panel deemed allegations of “racist and/or discriminatory behavior” and “illegal chants” inappropriate for a sporting event.

Red Star was already on probation for a previous case of racist behavior by fans and is now unable to sell tickets for the next away match, in Sturm Graz on December 11. A new probationary period of two years has also started, UEFA said.
UEFA fined the 1991 European Cup winner 62,500 euros.
