UEFA Champions League 2025-26: Guardiola says ‘everything is going wrong’ for Man City after shock loss to Bodo/Glimt

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said «everything is going wrong» for his team after coming off the back of a stunning Champions League match against Norwegian underdog Bodø/Glimt on Tuesday.

City slumped to a 3-1 defeat in a match that saw star midfielder Rodri sent off for two yellow cards in quick succession.

The unexpected defeat against the tournament debutant came three days after City were outplayed in a 2-0 defeat at fierce rivals Manchester United in the Premier League.

City have won just two of their last seven games in all competitions – and one of those was against third-tier Exeter in the FA Cup.

«Today was an incredible opportunity for us,» Guardiola said, «but everything goes wrong and goes against us in many details. That is a fact and we have to try to change it. The players are there and we tried.»

«I have no doubt that in this competition nothing can be taken for granted, that’s for sure. United were better than us (on Saturday). Today it was the momentum that punished us.»

City have also been hit by injuries, especially in defence, with centre-backs Ruben Dias, John Stones and Josko Gvardiol all out and right-back Matheus Nunes absent due to illness.

«We have arrived in some departments without key players… we are a bit vulnerable,» Guardiola said.
