Welcome to High Five Hiker Radio, «Transmission from the top of the path, or the lower part of its package», where we are talking with «Oh, you know harmony.» Today’s episode brings us Team, glorious equipment.
Harmony, I see that you have published your team of teams publicly for our readers who want to know exactly what you are taking. Do you mind telling us about some of your team options?
Of course! Hikers love to talk about team. I will touch my weight of heavy base, my quilt and luxury items.
What is in my bag?
Thanks Brian. I have more team than I would normally do it for a one -week excursion. I will be far from civilization for 9 days in the shoulder season and in different elevations. These factors led me to wear a solid first aid kit, rain pants, hat/gloves, a swollen shirt and microfleece, and two batteries. While walking through the AT, I knew it was in the city every 4-5 days and could dry, charge electronics or bail in bad weather. This is the longest trip I have embarked.
There are two schools of thought when backpackers are planning or equipment purchases: comfort on the path versus comfort in the camp. I am in the comfort of the camp, camp. I don’t like being cold or wet. I want to prevent or fix it.
I have accumulated my team over the years, testing a new team based on reading, reading and reading more. First I will lighten my load with an ULA circuit ago many moons outside the market. I have taken it to all my adventures. I had some holes and made a road trip to Ula HQ, where good people could repair it while I waited.
I carry a tent of two people. However, I am dividing the weight of the store with my store partner. Half of a two -people tent is more weight than carrying my one -person ultralight store. Due to space limitations for group tents sites on the Wonderland Path, we are sprouting in the tents of two people.
Lateral sleeperios, join
I discovered that I sleep very comfortably in a descending picture of the illuminated team. Previously, I would get tangled up in a sleeping bag in a vain attempt to feel comfortable. I can’t sleep on my back. In addition, I sleep very cold. I carry my swollen shirt and gofres in the foot box when I am curled up to fill the airspace. If I wake up too cold, they are available to use. The comforter, the hat down, the ankle boots and the sleep pad with high R classification keep me cozy.
Luxury articles
Harmony, what is a luxury article? Elegant articles?
Oh Brian, luxury articles are articles that are not obliged to stay alive, but make our trip luxurious.
I see what you did there.
Hikers have taken paint games, books, notebooks or stuffed animals.
I included vessels, pillow, spare battery and a cup of coffee in my luxury items. I included spare prescription glas in my luxury items. The possibility of breaking my glasses is scarce to none. However, no glasses end my trip. I can’t sail safely without corrective lenses. I have tried to fill the clothes in a dry bag like pillow and it is not for me. We are far from electricity for 9 days and we will carry an additional battery. Normally I carry a 10K MAH battery and on this trip I will wear 2 x 20k mah packages.
Wow, that’s an extra weight.
I know, I know. I use my phone for entertainment, navigation, photography and communication. I need to keep it loaded.
And my cup of folding coffee? I will be people for nine days. It is a safety measure for me to have my morning caffeine.
That concludes this episode of High Five Hiker Radio, «Transmission from the top of the path, or the lower part of its package.» Just the next episode when Harmony shares the collection of funds for which he is raising money.
