The 37-year-old, who started his senior professional career at Rosario Central in Argentina, had moved to Benfica in 2007. Eighteen years later he seems to complete a circle while he goes back to Rosario from the Portuguese side.

Di Maria’s statistics in club football:

Club Apparitions Go Helps
Paris Saint-Germain 295 93 119
Benfica 216 51 53
Real Madrid 190 36 85
Juventus 40 8 7
Rosario Central 39 6 2
Manchester United 32 4 11

Di Maria is one of the few players who has won a lot of silverware with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. He won the UEFA Champions League with Ronaldo in 2014 and two Copa Americas and FIFA World Cup with Messi as part of the Argentinian national team.

His stint at Benfica, however, ended with a 1-4 defeat against Chelsea, after which he left the field in tears.
