Lionel Messi scored the 900th goal of his career on Wednesday during Inter Miami’s CONCACAF Champions Cup round of 16 second leg against Nashville SC at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.
Seven minutes into the match, Messi collected a pass from left back Sergio Reguilon in the penalty area and slid a clinical finish past Nashville goalkeeper Brian Schwake.
Cristiano Ronaldo is the only other men’s player with more than 900 official goals, with the 41-year-old Portuguese superstar currently on 965 career goals.
The goal took Messi’s total to 81 goals for Miami after his move to Major League Soccer in 2023. The goal came 21 years after he scored his first goal, when he scored for Barcelona in a 2-0 win over Albacete in 2005.
