Brazil have replaced left-back Alex Sandro with Kaiki Bruno for their upcoming friendlies against France and Croatia, with the former Juventus player picking up an injury on Sunday.
2019 Copa America winner Alex Sandro was injured during a Serie A (Brazil) match between Flamengo and Corinthians, forcing Carlo Ancelotti – Brazil’s head coach – to make the late substitution.
Kaiki was part of the Brazil squad that won the 2023 South American U-20 Under-20 Championship and also reached the quarter-finals of the FIFA U-20 World Cup that year.
However, the 23-year-old is yet to make his senior debut, a debut that could come just before the World Cup under Ancelotti.
Brazil have already suffered the injury of goalkeeper Alisson, who was replaced by Corinthians’ Hugo Souza.
The five-time world champion will play against France on March 26 and Croatia on March 31 in Boston and Orlando respectively.
At the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Brazil will draw with Morocco, Haiti and Scotland, starting its campaign against Morocco on June 13.
