Leicester City has appointed the Spanish coach Marti Cifuentes as his new manager, announced the former Premier League champion on Tuesday.
The 43-year-old joins the Foxes with a three-year contract. Cifuentes will be accompanied by Xavi Calm as his assistant manager. Calm worked with him in his previous role at Queens Park Rangers (QPR) in the championship.
After an enchantment at QPR, where he took over it in October 2023 and the London side led from the relegation zone championship to an 18th place with five wins in the last eight games.
Before moving to England, the coach born in Catalonia worked with Hammarby as he led in Sweden, which led to a Swedish cup final and European qualification, and with Sandefjord in Norway.
Cifuentes succeeds Ruud van Nistorrooy, who separated with Club last month after the Dutchman did not prevent Leicester from being banned to the championship. The side finished 18th with 25 points at the end of the 2024-25 season.
