For those of you who are reading this to follow my trip specifically, welcome! I am very excited to share my story and inspire others. This will be a long and difficult pilgrimage with so many different types of challenges. The Pacific Crest Trail goes from Mexico to Canada (or vice versa), is approximately 2650 miles and crosses many different lands. The trip will take 5 to 6 months assuming that you can walk 20-25 miles per day. I will take about 3-4 days of food at the same time and I will refue in several cities and stops along the way. Everything I need will be in my backpack or in my person.
There will be times when I want to quit smoking and go home. In preparation for those moments, I have made a list of the «why» to be able to refer to them when I feel carefree.
I am through the PCT because:
- I want to challenge myself physically and mentally.
- I want to grow as a human being.
- I want to be in the best form of my life.
- I want to explore other identities of my identity as a veterinarian.
- I don’t want to wait until retirement to have fun.
- I want to make new appreciated friends.
- I have dreamed with this from high school.
- I want to get an additional backpack experience.
- I want to learn to appreciate life even when it is not fun.
- I want to be more comfortable with my own silence.
- Life is short.
- This is my opportunity to be really me.
- I want to see incredible views and have memorable experiences.
When I walked successfully, I will do it:
- I have an honor badge that I can tattoo on my other calf (my Ironwoman tattoo is left)
- Have some great stories to tell.
- Have blush rights.
- They have made some new friends.
- Be completely comfortable sleeping outside.
- Be more present at the time.
- Have this amazing sense of achievement for having persevered.
- Have more perspective of my stressors of current life.
If I give up, I will do it:
- Be really disappointed with myself.
- I have to tell everyone why I give up.
- I probably have no other chance until I retire (and maybe not even then).
- I have wasted all the money I spent on my team and wasted all that time in training
- My husband and my coworkers are sacrificing a lot so I can do this, and I must finish them.
Unhook me luck!
I will need luck along with enough courage and determination for this to happen. Do you think these reasons are enough to move forward? Follow to find out!
