Why was Argentina’s match against Puerto Rico moved from Chicago to Fort Lauderdale?

Argentina’s friendly against Puerto Rico in the United States has been moved from Chicago to Fort Lauderdale and rescheduled for Tuesday due to security and logistical issues, organizers said on Wednesday.

The match, originally scheduled for Monday at Soldier Field, will now take place a day later at Chase Stadium in Florida, home of Argentina captain Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami.

According to local reports, the change was due to widespread protests in Chicago over US immigration policies, making it difficult to ensure the event’s security.

The switch also provides the opportunity to expand ticket sales and schedule the match in the evening.

World champions Argentina, who have already secured their place at next year’s World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada, will also play a friendly at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium as part of their warm-up on Friday.
