Will Mbeumo and Diallo play for Manchester United against Bournemouth?

Manchester United have an important test in the Premier League as they play Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Monday evening.

A win will take the team back to fifth in the points table, keeping pace with its bid to return to the Champions League next season.

However, doubts remain over whether Ruben Amorim will have three of his key players – Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui – available to choose from for the visit of the Cherries.

The trio will link up with their respective national sides for the upcoming AFCON, which starts on December 21, with Monday being the mandatory date set by FIFA for clubs to release players for the tournament.

Striker Mbeumo has been named Cameroon captain, while winger Diallo and defender Mazraoui have also been called up to Ivory Coast and Morocco respectively.

Mbeumo is United’s top scorer in the league with six goals, while Diallo scored with two assists and a goal.

«We are still in discussions with the national teams, the match is on Monday, so they are training and we are trying to prepare all the scenarios. It is frustrating, but at the same time no one knows who will play, so it is a good thing. We have players who can handle everything,» said Amorim.

«With a long week you can work on different things to prepare for the match. Each national team has their own ideas about when they want the players. I expect a decision will be made tomorrow (Saturday) but we will wait until the last minute to choose the best team.»

There is no clarity yet on whether the three players will be available for United. Meanwhile, his opponents, Bournemouth, do not have to deal with a mid-season AFCON departure.
