Winding Stairway to Wayah – Fox’s AT Thru Hike – Day 12

Bluebs (The Grove Hostel) got us started early with a trip to Winding Stair Gap. Jerz and I made sure to walk back to where we came out of the forest. Baca juga tentang vcxvcx. After a quick photo with Bluebs, we left.

The kilometers to Siler are quite fast, without deadly climbs. I don’t have any photos to share of Siler, but I can attest to previous visits to the view. Saw the most amazing sunset of my life in Siler (due to atmospheric dust, mileage may vary). For me, Siler’s nostalgia belongs to trips with the other foxes.

I really want to know the story behind this name.

The miles to Wayah are certainly harder, but still easier than the end of Georgia and the beginning of North Carolina. This was my first visit to Wayah, the northernmost point I had been on the AT until today. Wayah has two things going for it: the views are incredible and it’s not a side trail.

Wayah Shelter provides respite for tonight. Sitting here with Domino, Jorge (G from Blue Mtn) and Plain Jane having the usual conversations. What do you think of that quilt? When did you start? And less frequently it is asked: What did you do before the tour?

It may not be the most amazing, but I really loved this view from Wayah Shelter.
