World Cup qualifications 2026: Akliouche gets Maiden France call-up, Ekitike, Kolo Muani Miss Out

While Monaco midfielder Maghnes Akliouche received his first call-up in France for his World Cup 2026 qualifications against Ukraine and Iceland next week.

The 23-year-old was part of the French side who caught up with the silver medal in the Paris Olympic Games under Thierry Henry.

In-form Liverpool striker Hugo Ekitike, who scored three goals in his first two games for defending Premier League champion, misses the list, just like Randal Kolo Muani, which is on his way of Paris Saint-Germain.

Stars Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele are the most important attacking options in the Didier Deschamps team, which also includes Michael Olise by Bayern Munich and Ryan Cherki from Manchester City.

William Saliba returns to the defense after missing the final of the National League with injury. Chelsea’s Malo Gusto and Ibrahima Konate from Liverpool also find a place.
