Captain Martin Odegaard will miss the opening of the UEFA Champions League 2025-26 match from Arsenal against Athletic Bilbao after he has arrived at the team’s growth rate.
After 17 minutes, Odegaard was replaced in the 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday after he fell awkwardly on his right shoulder after a challenge.
The midfielder of Norway did not participate in the training on Monday and Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta later said that Odegaard did not travel to Spain for Tuesday’s game.

Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz and Ben White are also injured. Yet William Saliba, who was also sidelined by the victory against Forest, is ready to appear after he came to his teammates at the training.
Arsenal reached the semi-final of the Champions League last season and lost to final champion Paris Saint-Germain and has never won the largest prize in Europe.
Asked what he learned from last season’s run, said Arteta: «That we are good enough and we can compete against every opposition on the day. And moreover, things have to go your way.»
