Sierra, your beauty is fascinating and our time together was incredible, but you are too wild for our relationship to last. So I leave you and I’m going to see you sister North Cal. It is said on the path that is really hot but a little burned.
Mammoth
My zero in Mammoth ended up being a double zero. I arrived there in the afternoon and did not do much. The second day I washed my clothes and my blog/Facebook, but I felt lazy, I still had a refueling, which has been discovering a lot of time. I went out with some new friends and we just rested, ate and drank some beers in the local brewery. There was a hot tube at the hotel located in the shelter that only the people of the hotel should use. We discovered how to unlock the door and enjoy a beautiful hot subway session. The next day, my friends left, so I did the rest of my tasks and then, at night, I went to a local bar and saw a tribute band Grateful Dead, they were not bad. The shelter in which I stayed was fine, there were many people who were not hikers there, so the atmosphere was not so good. Ah, and they had a resident mouse that lived there with which everyone seemed good. Mammoth said goodbye the next day. When I left, I went through the Devil’s postpile, which is a unique rock formation. I made a quite short day since I left gigantic a little late.

Bear in the camp!
The hiking of the next day led me beyond the beautiful area of Lake Thousand Island. Then up and on Donohue Pass. Donohue Pass was not as difficult as the others, but it was still very unique. It seemed another planet with its rocky landscape. It was also today when I noticed that I now have an eruption in all the legs. I suppose all part of the experience. Dr. Chloe, the family doctor of the family tells me that he will not kill me, so march with a new eruption. He ended up camping to the edge of a beautiful meadow with a long view of a mountain waterfall across the other side of the meadow. I saw some friends that I know in the camp on the other side of the path. Later at night I heard a shock. I thought they were my friends who simply did again but it turns out that a mother bear and two puppies entered the camp. Of course I missed it! They were not worried about our food, so everything was fine. At least I could see a video of the bears walking through my store.

Tuolumne and a storm
I had 10 miles to Tuolumne the next day. Tuolumne is the intersection that many hikers separated to go to Yosemite. Tuolumne is actually in the park, since the path goes through the park. I hastened to try to breakfast in the store when a ranger stopped me to see my permission. I was at the bottom of my package, so it took a little. I thought I was going to miss breakfast, which would have been devastating, but I was lucky and caught a hitch that went to a mile to get to the store in time. Breakfast was delicious. I packed some chicken nuggets for dinner and a beer. The walk through the Yosemite section was beautiful. I passed some large currents and waterfalls. In fact, I swam in two places. One in a beautiful stream and then another swim at the base of a giant waterfall. Both places were incredible. Then, when it reached the end of the day, I notice that the clouds hurt and heard thunder. I talked to a park representative who was walking and asked about the weather. She said nothing to worry about, she was supposed to stay in the line of the crest and not hit us. Mistaken! Just when it was at the top of the mountain, thunder and thunder released and the rain fell. I walked in the valley with the light hitting over and installed my view of the store and curled up. My hiking clothes wet, but all my sleep things remained dry.

Supporting the routine
The next day, I was really exhausted and dragging. I looked at what I did the day before and had walked around 23 miles, which is a lot for this section. While this section does not have great altitude passes as the last section, mountain passes seem to be more steep. With the long miles and storm drama the day before I was exhausted. Benson Pass beat 11k feet, but decided to do it a short day. I just hanged in the store watching a Netflix series that I downloaded in Mammoth. I also listened to a chapter of my audiobook. It is Hail Mary, it is quite good, written by the same type that the Martian did. They did not have many options, mosquitoes are so bad that you have to be on a network to prevent stupid things from being abused.
The next morning my first alarm slept. I am not asleep very well, so fighting to get out of bed the last days. Part of the problem is that it is cold in the morning. My routine is that I prepare a cup of coffee and take my pop as I come out of the sleeping bag. That helps. I had a fairly difficult day ahead. Seavey Pass and 2 other mountains, total elevation of approximately 3k feet with acute slopes. Again it is not a super long day to approximately 17 miles, but they were hard miles. And again the mosquitoes were terrible, so another night caught in the store. Tomorrow a long day of more than 20 miles, then a short day in Kennedy Meadows North for a Nero. I’m really anxious for a shower and wash a little.

Walking for Seavey Pass
Kennedy Meadows North and Home Disease
Kennedy Meadows North was a great Nero. It is a horse camp and serves PCT hikers. They had a great restaurant there and obtained a great rib. When I went back to the road, I went through some really beautiful mountains. These are not as steep as the main mountain range passes. These are more rounded and have vegetation in them. The flowers have really begun to bloom and align the path too. While I have really enjoyed the landscape in this section, I believe mentally, I think I reached a low point. I had been walking a lot alone and I definitely lacked home. I think that a great advantage that younger hikers have is that they don’t have so much to wait for them at home, so home disease is not a problem. Many do not know what they will do when the walk ends, but they know they will have to find work that most fear. For boys like me, although I have a lot waiting for me. My wife, children, grandchildren, friends, my hobbies. But the most notable, there is no job! Then it is difficult. I would say that it is the most difficult part of my walk. Lately, although I have been meeting more people who help. I also obtained a great magic of paths recently, that is always a moral impulse. Two types of Lodi were installed on a road that we were crossing. The best magic of trails so far! It had tea, orange juice, blueberry juice, beer, coffee and coca cola to drink. I can’t get enough liquid, since I’m always dehydrated and I’m looking for a cold drink. For the snacks I had double ear, mint oreos, cinnamon roll, 2 brownies and a peanut butter sandwich plus other several snacks that I have in my hands. I was fantasizing with a peanut butter sandwich that morning. I told everyone at the table about this and we decided that it manifested the magic of the path. Everyone thanked me. I am spending more calories than in assimilating and I am losing weight. I am like a bear, I am crazy as many calories as I can assimilate when I have the opportunity.

You support these two types of Lodi for putting the best magic of trails!

Walking through a rock pass
That wind means business
The night after the magic of the path, a group of us camped at the top of a mountain. That night the wind was crazy. He ended up blowing my tent 5 times. I had to stack large rocks on bets. Of course it was happening in the middle of the night, I was very irritated about it. I had to look for large rocks with my lighthouse because those that had not been hot enough to keep betting on the floor. I was cursing and doing some tantrum, which did absolutely nothing, but made me feel better. The next day I was dragging. The wind blew so strong that it was sometimes difficult to stay on the road. I had a couple of great climbs, but the landscape was again incredible. Just when I think I have seen the best of this walk, it continues to improve. Tomorrow I have a short day at Lake Tahoe for zero necessary. The completion of this section officially ends the Sierra PCT section. It has been a wonderful experience, but now is the time to go north of California, where they expect new adventures!
