Luca Zidane, the 27-year-old keeper and son of French football Great Zinedine Zidane, has been called for Algeria’s two remaining 2026 World Cup qualification roads.
Zidane changed his international faith from France to Algeria last month, after he had represented Les Bleus at the level of youth. He is currently playing for Granada in the Second Division of Spain.
Because he never set the step for the French national team, he continued to be eligible to play for Algeria, the land of his father’s grandparents.

Algeria leads his world cup qualifying group with 19 points. It will be eligible for the tournament with a victory over Somalia next week, but could also do this in his last game against the second placed Uganda.
The North Africans have qualified for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which will start in Morocco on December 21.
Zidane also played for the Real Madrid reserve team after he detected himself in 2004 at the club’s youth academy, where he was in 2004.
He debuted with the main team in their last league match in the 2017-18 season and was the third-choice goalkeeper when Real won his 13th European title in 2018.
Although Zinedine Zidane was born in Marseille, his family originally came from a small village in Bejaia, about 250 kilometers east of Algiers.
