Serie A 2025-26: Fiorentina fire Stefano Pioli with club winless after 10 rounds

Stefano Pioli was sacked by Fiorentina on Tuesday after the club was winless after ten rounds of the 2025/26 Serie A season.

The move came two days after a 1-0 defeat at home to Lecce exacerbated the Tuscan side’s crisis.

Fiorentina are bottom of the table and have only four points from four draws, in addition to six defeats.

«Fiorentina can confirm that Stefano Pioli has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the first team,» the club said. “Daniele Galloppa will temporarily take charge of the first team from this afternoon’s training.”

Pioli’s dismissal follows the announcement on Saturday that Fiorentina had terminated the contract of sporting director Daniele Prade by mutual consent.

Pioli was hired when former Fiorentina coach Raffaele Palladino left unexpectedly after leading the club to a sixth-place finish last season.

Fiorentina have done well in Europe of late, finishing second in consecutive Conference League finals, followed by reaching the semi-finals last season.

In two games of this season’s Conference League, Fiorentina are at the top of the table. The Viola visits Mainz on Thursday.

Fiorentina’s next Italian league match is Sunday in Genoa.

Pioli led AC Milan to the Serie A title in 2022 and then coached Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia before joining Fiorentina.

It is the third coaching change in Serie A this season after Luciano Spalletti replaced Igor Tudor at Juventus and Patrick Vieira left Genoa.
