David Beckham, the former England football captain and global icon, was formally knighted by King Charles III at a ceremony at Windsor Castle on Tuesday. The 50-year-old was honored for his services to football and British society.
The knighthood was initially announced earlier this year as part of King Charles’ Birthday Honors list. Beckham’s illustrious career, both on and off the pitch, has made him one of the most recognizable figures in modern sport.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder made 115 appearances for his country and captained the Three Lions for six years between 2000 and 2006.
