Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Micky van de Ven scored a sensational solo goal in his side’s 4-0 defeat to FC Copenhagen in the Champions League on Tuesday.
The flying Dutchman won the ball in his own penalty area in the 64th minute and raced the length of the pitch through weak defense to slam home a shot and make it 3–0.
Brennan Johnson had put a dominant Spurs side ahead in the 19th minute, and Wilson Odobert doubled the lead in the 51st after good work from Randal Kolo Muani.
Johnson was shown a red card four minutes after Odobert’s goal for a late tackle on Marcos Lopez, but instead of slowing down Tottenham put their foot on the accelerator.
After Van de Ven’s magical moment, substitute Joao Palhinha was played in by Cristian Romero after another great forward move, making the score 4-0.
Richarlison hit the crossbar with a 90th minute penalty but that couldn’t detract from a great night for Spurs.

Atletico Madrid beats Union Saint-Gilloise
Atletico Madrid secured a 3-1 home win against Union Saint-Gilloise, with goals from Julian Alvarez, Conor Gallagher and Marcos Llorente keeping Diego Simeone’s side in the hunt for qualification.
The result leaves Atletico in 14th place in the league stage standings with six points from four matches, level with five other teams, while Belgian champions Union Saint-Gilloise are 26th with three points and outside the qualifying spots.
Meanwhile, in Norway, AS Monaco striker Folarin Balogun scored the only goal of the match as the French side recorded a 1-0 win at Bodo/Glimt, while the home side’s Jostein Gundersen was sent off late on for an ill-timed tackle.
The Norwegians, who reached the semi-finals of the Europa League last season, won the possession battle in the first half but fell behind in the 43rd minute when Balogun cut behind the defense and fired a shot into the top corner from a tight angle. The win moves Monaco up to 18th in the table with five points, while the hosts drop to 27th with two points from a pair of draws in the first two matches.
