Real Madrid defender Eder Militao faces a long period of injury problems after the club diagnosed him with a torn hamstring on Monday ahead of an important Champions League match against Manchester City.
The Brazilian centre-back was injured during Sunday’s 2-0 La Liga defeat to Celta Vigo, leaving his side four points behind leaders Barcelona.
“He has been diagnosed with a rupture of the biceps femoris tendon in the left leg, specifically in the proximal tendon,” Madrid said in a statement.

According to Spanish reports, Militao will miss three to four months, continuing his injury-hit spell at the club since joining from Porto in 2019.
The 27-year-old has suffered two serious knee injuries during his time at Madrid and has made fewer than 20 appearances in the last two seasons.
Madrid have injured several other defenders, including Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dani Carvajal and Dean Huijsen.
They host City and superstar striker Erling Haaland on Wednesday as they look to improve on a run of two wins in their last seven games in all competitions.
