The US will play Senegal in the World Cup friendly in North Carolina on May 31


The United States will play a friendly against Senegal on May 31 in Charlotte, North Carolina, in the Americans’ penultimate match ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup opener.

The US still has four games to go before hosting the World Cup together with Mexico and Canada. The 14th-place team will play number 8 Belgium on March 28 and sixth-place Portugal three days later, both in Atlanta. After meeting 19th-ranked Senegal, the US will face No. 9 Germany on June 6 in Chicago.

This will be the first meeting between the Americans and Senegal. The American Football Association announced the match against Senegal on Thursday.

At the World Cup, the US opens Group D against world No. 39 Paraguay on June 12 in Inglewood, faces 26th-ranked Australia seven days later in Seattle and closes the group stage in Inglewood on June 25 against the winner of the play-offs between Turkey (No. 25), Slovakia (45), Romania (47) and Kosovo (80).
