Messi GOAT Tour full itinerary – FIFA World Cup winner’s schedule in India on the 2025 tour

Lionel Messi returns to India for his first tour in 14 years, traveling through four Indian cities from December 13.

The event, titled the ‘GOAT Tour of India’, will see Messi arrive in Kolkata in the early hours of Saturday to begin his tour before traveling to Hyderabad, Mumbai and New Delhi. He is joined by Inter Miami teammates Rodrigo de Paul and Luis Suarez.

Day 1, December 13: First half – Kolkata

The trio will stay in a five-star hotel on the EM Bypass, with Messi inaugurating a 70-foot statue of himself by artist Monti Pal, titled ‘Monumento de Messi’.

Despite the 2022 World Cup captain staying in the same city, the unveiling of the statue, set up in Lake Town, will take place virtually due to security concerns.

Messi will then travel to the Yuva Bharati Krirangan for a felicitation programme. “The program is expected to start at 10 am and end at 1.05 pm,” said Aneesh Sarkar, the deputy commissioner of police (Bidhhanagar).

Messi will meet Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the stadium. A coaching clinic is also on the programme.

Day 1, December 13: Second half – Hyderabad

Messi will then fly to Hyderabad the same day, where he will kick off a friendly match – titled GOAT Cup – with Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium at 7 pm in Uppal, Hyderabad.

The Argentinian will then travel to the Falaknuma Palace for a private meet-and-greet session, followed by dinner, which is expected to be attended by the Chief Minister and a host of Tollywood (Telugu) stars.

«The Telangana government, as the Chief Minister is really passionate about football – he plays football – and has taken some initiatives like starting a FIFA academy. All that will get further inspiration with this visit, and the machinery set up by the government will be fine-tuned to support the entire project,» Prabhakaran added.

Day 2, December 14: Mumbai

Messi will then travel to Mumbai, where a charity fashion show, a padel match with cricket stars and coaching clinics are all planned at the Cricket Club of India, followed by a program at the Wankhede Stadium.

It is learned that Sachin Tendulkar will attend the padel match with Messi in CCI, while talks have been held with Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma and Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

The fashion show is expected to have John Abraham, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Jackie Shroff among the Bollywood stars and will be a 45-minute event. One of Messi’s Qatar 2022 memorabilia will also be auctioned for charity.

Messi, like in Hyderabad and Kolkata, will take part in a coaching clinic at the Wankhede Stadium, where 60 children – 30 boys and 30 girls – have been shortlisted under a special program called Project Mahadev.

Day 3, December 15: New Delhi

In his final leg of the Goat Tour, Messi will attend another event at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, the last before he meets Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Minerva Academy, who won three European youth trophies this year, will be congratulated at the event, with a coaching program planned for young children in the national capital.

«They are building a special pitch in the middle of the stadium, in the middle of the pitch. When Messi comes, he will also do coaching clinics for small children and play on the pitch next to us,» said Ranjit Bajaj, the founder of Minerva Academy.

«There will be two coaching clinics, and Messi will be part of them. And the (Minerva) match will be a 9v9.»

How to watch Messi GOAT Tour of India?

The entire event is organized by sports promotion company A Satadru Dutta Initiative (ASDI), a venture of Kolkata-based entrepreneur Satadru Dutta, who has previously brought World Cup legends like Diego Maradona, Pele, Cafu and most recently Emiliano Martinez to Kolkata.

However, for Messi’s GOAT tour, tickets are still available for all locations.

Kolkata prices range from Rs. 4366 to Rs. 11,800. In Mumbai, the venue is almost fully booked, with available tickets costing around Rs. 8850 to Rs. 14750.

Hyderabad is relatively empty, with tickets ranging from Rs. 2250 to Rs. 30,000, while passes cost Rs. 4720 to Rs. 5900 in New Delhi.

«More than 80 percent of the tickets at the various venues have been sold, and we expect further sales in the last few days. Kolkata is expected to sell out,» Prabhakaran said.

It will be Messi’s first trip to India since 2011, when he played an international friendly against Venezuela with the Argentina national team.
