FA Cup holders Crystal Palace were beaten 2-1 by non-league club Macclesfield on Saturday as the sixth division club, who are 117 places below the champions, produced a mammoth performance to eliminate the Premier League side.
Paul Dawson gave Macclesfield the lead in the first half before Isaac Buckley-Ricketts made it 2-0 on the hour mark. Although Palace’s Yeremy Pino halved the deficit with a stunning free-kick, Macclesfield held on for a memorable setback.
