FC Goa of the Indian Super League (ISL) has parted ways with Spanish striker Iker Guarrotxena a month before the start of the 2025/26 season, the club announced on Wednesday.
Guarrotxena, who grew up in the Basque region of Spain, graduated from Athletic Bilbao’s youth academy and spent three seasons in Indian football: two with FC Goa and one with Mumbai City FC.
With the Islanders he scored three times and assisted two more, while he scored 24 goals and provided four assists for Goa.
He won the ISL Cup with Mumbai City FC in 2024 before returning to Goa after two seasons, where he won back-to-back AIFF Super Cup titles under coach Manolo Marquez.
«FC Goa confirms the departure of Iker Guarrotxena. A true fighter on the pitch, we thank Iker for his dedication and fighting spirit towards the badge. Good luck with your next challenge Iker,» the club said in a statement.
Guarrotxena is the fourth foreigner to leave the club amid growing uncertainty over the 2025-26 ISL season. Previously, Javier Silverio, David Timor and Borja Herrera had left the club.
