Moroccan striker Alaaeddine Ajaraie has left NorthEast United to join Indonesian side Persija Jakarta on loan for the remainder of the 2025-2026 season, the Indian Super League club announced on Friday.
Ajaraie joined NorthEast United from Moroccan top team FAR Rabat in August 2024 on a one-year contract with an option to extend the contract for a further year.
The 33-year-old Ajaraie has made 41 appearances for the Highlanders in all competitions, scoring 39 goals and providing 15 assists.
He played a crucial role in NEUFC’s success as the club won consecutive Durand Cup titles and reached the quarter-finals of the ISL Play-offs and Super Cup.
During the 2024–25 ISL season, Ajaraie collected 23 goals and seven assists in 25 appearances, winning the ISL Golden Boot and Golden Ball.

“NorthEast United FC and Persija Jakarta have reached an agreement on the loan transfer of Alaaeddine Ajaraie until the end of the 2025-2026 season,” the club said in a statement.
Persija Jakarta has won the top division title in Indonesia eleven times. It is currently in third place with 35 points from 17 matches.
Ajaraie’s departure follows a string of foreigners leaving the ISL for other leagues in the winter transfer window, after India’s top flight was put on hold for several months before the announcement of a truncated 2025-26 season due to start on February 14.
