When was the last time Morocco won AFCON?

This is only the third time since the tournament’s inception in 1957 that Morocco has reached the final of the continental competition.

Morocco won its only title on its first appearance at the summit clash of the 1976 edition in Ethiopia. Unlike the current knockout style, that edition followed a round-robin format with only eight teams divided into two groups.

Morocco advanced to the final round as group top with two wins and a draw, while Nigeria, Guinea and Egypt also qualified. It had a similar record in the group in the final round, beating Guinea to lift the trophy.

Meanwhile, Morocco reached the final again in 2004, but ultimately lost 1-2 to Tunisia.
