Arsenal youngster Nwaneri has been loaned to Marseille for the rest of the season

Marseille hired 18-year-old winger Ethan Nwaneri from Arsenal on Friday until the end of the season.

Nwaneri became the youngest player in Premier League history at 15 years and 181 days when he made his debut for Arsenal as a substitute against Brentford in September 2022.

Last season he scored nine goals for Arsenal in a total of 37 games, but this season games are harder to come by for the team that leads the Premier League and Champions League.

Arsenal said the move to France will give Nwaneri “valuable playing time”.

Marseille are third in Ligue 1 and have scored 41 goals in the league under attacking coach Roberto De Zerbi.
