Indian men’s under-17 team defeats Tajikistan in the first friendly match behind closed doors


The India Under-17 men’s national team defeated Tajikistan U17 4-2 in the first of two behind-closed-doors friendlies at the PJN Stadium in Fatorda, Goa, on Thursday.

India took an early lead through a Dallalmoun Gangte goal in the eighth minute, before Mekhrubon Odilzoda equalized in the 18th, as both sides went into half-time tied at 1-1.

The Blue Colts started the second half in similar fashion as Deny Singh Wangkhem put them back in front three minutes after the restart. However, Tajikistan roared back and Sadriddin Sattorov leveled the match in the 66th minute.

India pulled away from the visitor in the final 15 minutes as Azlaan Shah KH’s cross was converted into their own net by Tajikistan’s defenders in the 75th minute, before Washington Singh Ngangom (90+1′) scored in stoppage time to secure the victory.
