EFL Cup: Will there be extra time in the second leg of the Arsenal-Chelsea League Cup semi-final?


A place in the EFL Cup final awaits when Arsenal and Chelsea face each other in the semi-final at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.

Arsenal won the reverse fixture 3-2 last month, thanks to goals from Ben White, Viktor Gyokeres and Martin Zubimendi, while Alejandro Garnacho scored twice for Chelsea.

Arsenal are looking to reach the final of the competition for the ninth time, and the first since the 2017/18 season. Meanwhile, five-time winners Chelsea will be hoping to reach the top-flight clash for the first time since the 2023/24 edition, where they lost 0-1 to Liverpool.

The winner of the match will face Manchester City or Newcastle United in the final.

Will there be extra time in the EFL Cup semi-final?

If the aggregate scores are level after 90 minutes in the EFL Cup semi-final between Arsenal and Chelsea, the match will go into extra time.

If the scores are still tied, the winner will be determined via a penalty shootout.
