FIFA World Cup 2026: England play New Zealand and Costa Rica in the warm-up

England will play New Zealand and Costa Rica in Florida in June as part of their preparations for the 2026 World Cup, the Football Association said on Wednesday.

Thomas Tuchel’s side will take on New Zealand on June 6 before taking on Costa Rica on June 10, with venues to be announced at a later date.

England then travel to Kansas City, where they will stay at Soccer Swope Village for the duration of the tournament.

The city of Missouri was the preferred venue of the English Football Association, despite two of their group matches and several potential knockout matches taking place on the east coast of the United States.

England last played Costa Rica in a friendly win in 2018, while they also faced Central America at the 2014 World Cup, where they drew 0-0.

New Zealand, which has also qualified for the World Cup, last faced England in 1991, losing two friendlies in Auckland and Wellington.

At the 2026 World Cup, which starts on June 11, England will face Croatia, Ghana and Panama in Group L bvhfgg17.

After qualifying with a perfect record of eight wins from eight games without conceding a single goal, England face Uruguay and Japan in friendlies on home soil next month.
