Atletico Madrid will be the first major exit of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, the goal of Griezmann is going in vain

It took almost the entire second half, but the ruthless attacks on the goal made their fruit for Antoine Griezmann in the 87th minute on Monday.

After teammate Angel Correa’s shot was blocked by a defender, Griezmann sent a left shot in the net to take Atletico Madrid to a 1-0 win over Botafogo in Group B Action of the FIFA Club World Cup in Pasada, Calif.

Unfortunately it was not enough to send the Spaniards to the knockout rounds, because Atletico Madrid had to achieve a victory of at least three goals to leave group B.

Paris Saint-Germain, who defeated the Seattle Sounders 2-0 on Monday, and Botafogo Die earlier this week PSG defeated the top two places of the group.

In the 10th minute, Botafogo had an excellent chance to hit first after a ball to Jefferson Savarino gave the striker a goal. Jan Oblak from Atletico Madrid, however, extended for a scoring reduction.

Julian Alvarez almost gave Atletico Madrid just halfway. The attacker collected an access pass just outside the goal area, turned around and hit a right -oriented explosion, but his attempt was pulled wide to left to hold the game in a scoreless draw.

At the start of the second half, Atletico again put the pressure on Botafogo with Griezmann who established a lofted ball along the left side and hit his defender along the goal line. Griezmann then tried to sneak a left shot at the nearby pole, but it was off the pole and out of the game.

In the 67th minute, Botafogo went into the offensive when Cuiabano held a cross in the box that ran Jesus on the goal. Again, Oblak was there to make the attempt to keep a clean slate.

Atletico had several opportunities to build on the lead after the 87th minute score of Griezmann, but Botafogo continued to deny the Spanish side.

Oblak ended with three saves for Atletico Madrid, who surpassed Botafogo 23-7 (5-3 on goal). John Victor from Botafogo was credited with four saves.
