Defending champions Mohun Bagan Super Giant started their title defense with a 2-0 win over Kerala Blasters in the 2025-26 Indian Super League opener at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on Saturday.
Australian forward Jamie Maclaren put the Mariners ahead in the 36th minute, sending the ball past Blasters’ goalkeeper Sachin Suresh with an easy finish.

KBFC looked lively in the dying minutes of the match, with new signing Kevin Yoke at the center of the action, but Bagan’s defense held firm.
Defender Tom Aldred then doubled the lead late in second-half stoppage time with a thumping header from Anirudh Thapa’s cross to ensure the hosts took all three points.
Later in the day, ISL debutants Inter Kashi will play against FC Goa at the Fatorda Stadium in Goa.
