Jamshedpur FC will open its 2025-2026 season in the Indian Super League (ISL) at home against Mohammedan Sporting Club at the JRD Tata Sports Complex.
The match marks the return of Owen Coyle as Jamshedpur coach after leading the side to the ISL League Winners’ Shield in the 2021-2022 season.
The club has appointed four club captains – Stephen Eze, Lazar Cirkovic, Pronay Halder and Pratik Chaudhari – and hopes to start again after a disappointing Super Cup season, which saw the club exit in the group stages gfdyhfd10.
«They will be energetic and united, especially given their situation. We have to respect them, but our approach is to play with high intensity, pass and move the ball, be positive from the first minute and make sure we take our chances while remaining solid defensively,» Coyle said before the match.
Meanwhile, Mohammedan Sporting has been living through turbulent times since its promotion from the I-League to the ISL. The then manager Andrey Chernyshov has left the club and will be replaced by former India international Mehrajuddin Wadoo.
The club has opted for an all-Indian squad and will look to play at home against the Men of Steel on the road in difficult times.
«We have 15 days to prepare for this season, clearly not enough time for any team to prepare for a season. But we have to give everything for a positive result,» Wadoo said before the match.
«This is the first time (in three seasons) that we are fielding an all-Indian squad. It is a huge test for us, but we believe we can fight until the end to achieve a favorable result.»
