Nottingham Forest appoint Vitor Pereira as manager

Nottingham Forest have appointed Vitor Pereira as manager to replace Sean Dyche, the Premier League club announced on Sunday.

The Portuguese manager has been given an 18-month contract and becomes the fourth different manager to take charge of the club this season, after Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecogolou and Dyche.

Dyche was sacked earlier this week after Nottingham’s 0-0 draw with bottom-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers, leaving them in 17th place, just three points above the relegation zone.

His replacement, Pereira, began his managerial career in 2002. He took over Porto in 2011 and led the club to consecutive league titles. After spending time with Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia, Periera then moved to Olympiakos in January 2015 and went on to win the doubles with Piraeus.

He has also managed Fenerbahçe in Turkey and Chinese Super League Club Shanghai SIPG, guiding the latter to their first-ever league title in his debut season, before going on to win the Chinese Super Cup. He has also had spells in charge of Brazilian clubs Corinthians and Flamengo.

Most recently he was in charge of Wolves and helped the club avoid relegation last season. However, a ten-match winless streak at the start of this season saw him lose his job and be replaced by Rob Edwards.
