Out in the Malvern hills
Malvern Hills, Worcestershire on a cloudy day in April 2025
Fast advance until Easter 2025 and I am in the Malvern hills in Worcestershire (United Kingdom) testing my mother’s walking posts, wearing more in my shoes and, in general, practicing walking through the hills, like where I live, it is incredibly flat.
Everything goes well and I learn, what is probably very obvious, to take ups of slow and constantly hill instead of trying to walk at my normal speed and then have to stop in the middle many times to recover your breath. I also confirm that for me, walking posts on the floor are an obstacle. However, in an steep elevator, they definitely have a role and, therefore, decide to invest in some lights for whw.

Day 0 – Going to Scotland
Before I realize, it’s time to pack and go to Scotland. My route takes me to the east coast of the United Kingdom to Edinburgh from where I capture a west train to Glasgow. Although the whw starts in Milngavie, the captive audience means that I find a very pleasant hotel accommodation for much cheaper in the center of Glasgow. I stayed in Citizen M, which I really enjoyed. The lounge bar area is perfect to relax the night in advance with a book and drink.

Glasgow’s Buchanan Street: The main commercial street of the city
Glasgow is also only more than 20 minutes by train to Milngavie and a single ticket in the day cost me £ 4.70. It is not necessary to buy before the day and the direct trains run every half hour from the Glasgow Queen Street station. This was correct for a working day in May 2025.
