Dempo Sports Club captain Ariston Costa suffered a serious fall after a collision with Real Kashmir FC’s Oinam Sanatomba Singh at the Fatorda Stadium in Goa on Sunday.
Despite the medical staff rushing onto the field almost immediately, Ariston appeared unresponsive for a while. Even as Ariston received medical attention, Oinam was shown a yellow card after the referee had a brief discussion with the referee on the sideline.
Dempo coach Samir Naik also entered the field when the match was stopped for a few minutes. An ambulance arrived shortly afterwards and Ariston was taken to hospital.
Samir explained to the referees that it was an intentional shoulder push that hit Ariston on the face. At that stage of the match, both teams were tied at 0-0.
