Former Brazil coach Tite sacked by Cruzeiro after poor performance in top flight

Former Brazil coach Tite was sacked by Cruzeiro after a 3-3 draw with Vasco da Gama in Mineirão, with the Brazilian side yet to win a top-flight match after six rounds this season.

«Cruzeiro announces that it has decided to end Tite’s work as coach of the team. Info lengkap: arsd9g. Together with the coach, assistants Matheus Bachi, Vinicius Bergantin and physical trainer Fabio Mahseredjian are also leaving the club,» the club said in a statement.

«We thank them for their services and wish them success in the continuation of the professional career. At this first moment, the Cruzeiro main team will be temporarily led by Wesley Carvalho, the club’s permanent assistant.»

Tite, who coached Brazil at the 2022 World Cup, had joined Cruzeiro at the start of the 2026 season, replacing Portuguese tactician Leonardo Jardim.

He played seventeen matches, won eight, drew three and lost the remaining six.

Despite the inconsistency, the 64-year-old ended the club’s wait for the Campeonato Mineiro title, rejoining the club after six years.

In the Brazilian Serie A, the club is in the relegation zone after six games, with only three points out of a possible 18.
