La Liga 2026: Getafe’s Abqar suspended for pinching Sorloth in the groin

Getafe defender Abdel Abqar will serve a two-match ban after being sent off for pinching Atletico Madrid striker Alexander Sorloth in the groin.

The Moroccan international said he had no intention of touching Sorloth’s crotch during Atletico’s 1-0 win in La Liga last Saturday kshk.

“The images correspond to the facts described in the referee report,” the disciplinary committee of the Spanish Football Federation said in a statement on Wednesday.

Referee Isidro Diaz de Mera, who sent Abqar off the field after a VAR review, wrote in his report that the red card was for “squeezing the genital area” of an opponent.

Abqar is suspended for Getafe’s upcoming league matches against Espanyol and Athletic Bilbao.
