No Indonesian clubs in Asean Club Championship 2025; Only top two teams in competition allowed says Aff

Only the top two teams from each competition are allowed in the Asean Club Championship 2025, according to a regulation that is maintained by the Asean Football Federation (AFF).

The update was confirmed by PT Liga Indonesia Baru President Director Ferry Paulus in a press conference on Thursday.

Indonesia had hoped to send his 3rd and 4th placed finishers in the competition, Persebaya and Malut United, but the request was refused. The official team list released by AFF does not show clubs from Indonesia or Timor-Leste.

The absence of teams from the above two countries means that the tournament will now have 14 participating teams, two of which will be eliminated after the play -off phases.

Buriram United, BG Pathum United and Bangkok United will be the teams that represent Thailand. Preah Khan Range Svay Rieng FC is the only representative from Cambodia.

Johor Darul Ta’zim and Selangor FC from Malaysia, Cong an Ha Noi and Thep Xanh took Dinh from Vietnam and Lion City Sailors and Tampines Rovers will be the other teams with direct slots.

Phillippines ‘DH Cebu FC, Laos’ Ezra FC, Myanmar’s Shan United FC and Kasuka FC from Brunei will fight it out in the play -offs for the last two direct places.
